Part-Time Contract Position (10-20 hours/week)

About the Role

We’re a digital marketing agency seeking an experienced blog writer to create high-quality, search-optimized content for our diverse client portfolio. This role focuses on execution: you’ll transform strategic direction and topic briefs into compelling blog posts that rank well in both traditional search engines and AI-powered search platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc.).

What You'll Do

  • Write regular blog posts (typically 1,500-2,500 words each) across various industries and client niches
  • Optimize content for SEO best practices (keyword integration, meta descriptions, header structure, internal linking)
  • Apply GEO principles to maximize visibility in AI search results (clear formatting, concise answers, structured data considerations)
  • Follow brand voice guidelines and style requirements for different clients
  • Incorporate provided keywords naturally while maintaining engaging, reader-focused content
  • Meet consistent deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with our Content Manager via async communication and occasional strategy calls

What We're Looking For

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of professional blog/content writing experience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating SEO writing capabilities
  • Deep understanding of on-page SEO fundamentals (keyword research application, semantic SEO, user intent)
  • Familiarity with GEO principles and writing for AI-powered search (featured snippet optimization, clear structure, answer-focused content)
  • Ability to research and write authoritatively across different industries
  • Excellent grammar, storytelling ability, and attention to detail
  • Self-directed work style with strong time management skills

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with SEO tools (Clearscope, Surfer SEO, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.)
  • Understanding of how LLMs process and surface content
  • Background working with marketing agencies or multiple clients
    WordPress or CMS experience
  • Basic understanding of content analytics (traffic, rankings, engagement metrics)

Logistics

  • Hours: 10-20 hours/week (flexible schedule)
  • Rate: $25-$60/hr DOE
  • Structure: You’ll receive detailed content briefs with topics, keywords, target word count, and strategic direction
  • Communication: Primarily async (email/Slack) with occasional video calls for onboarding or complex projects
  • Tools: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Slack
