Branding & Design
Your brand, beautifully crafted.
Your brand is personal. It's how the world sees you, and we don't take that lightly. We ask the uncomfortable questions, listen to the backstory, and then build something that actually feels like you.

Our approach
Brand & design
Sproutbox is a Portland-based branding and design agency. We've helped hundreds of businesses develop brand identities that hold up everywhere, from websites to packaging to social. Branding works best when it's consistent, which is why we build it in tandem with our website design and social media teams from day one.
The brands that stick are built with a clear point of view and applied consistently everywhere, from a business card to a website to a sponsored post. A Pacific Northwest brewery we rebranded saw a 96% increase in Instagram followers in the year after their refresh. Not from posting more. From finally having a visual identity that matched their product and a brand voice people actually wanted to follow.
Our Process
How we get brand & design results.
We start by asking a lot of questions. What makes your business different? What do your best customers say about you? What does your current brand get wrong? We look at your competitors, your industry, and your audience before we open a design file. The goal is to understand your business well enough to make design decisions that reflect it accurately.
Brand pillars are built from real insight, not intuition. We synthesize everything from onboarding into a set of core brand attributes that define your positioning, personality, and value proposition. These pillars become the filter for every design decision. If a logo direction doesn't reflect them, it doesn't make the presentation.
We present two to three distinct creative directions. Not variations on the same idea. Each is fully realized: logo, color palette, typography, and example applications. You pick a direction, give us feedback, and we refine. Most projects reach a final mark in two rounds. We also design the supporting system: icons, graphic elements, photo direction, and usage rules that make the brand work everywhere it needs to.
The brand guidelines we deliver are built to actually be used. Every application you'll need: digital, print, social, in-person, with clear rules and real examples. We walk your team through it before handing it over. If you're launching a new website alongside the brand, our web team builds directly from the brand work. That's where a lot of the consistency pays off.
Our Team
Meet your brand & design team.
A strong brand makes every other piece of your marketing easier. Ads perform better when the creative is consistent. Social grows faster when there's a recognizable visual language. Sales conversations are shorter when your positioning is clear before the call starts. We think about brand as infrastructure, not decoration.
We work with businesses at every stage: startups building a brand from scratch, established companies that have outgrown their identity, and teams that have a brand they love but can't apply consistently. The work follows the same principle wherever you're starting. Build something true to who you are that communicates clearly to the people you're trying to reach.
Brand projects are personal. We take that seriously. You'll work with the same creative lead from the initial brand audit through final delivery, not a discovery team that hands you off to designers you've never met. We push back when a direction doesn't accurately reflect your business, and we don't hand you something just because you asked for it if we think there's something better. Your brand is going to live on your site, your cards, your social, your office walls. We want it to be something you're proud of for a long time.

Why Sproutbox
What sets us apart.
Trendy design expires fast. We're a Portland-based agency that builds identities meant to last, grounded in research, refined with your input, and documented thoroughly.
Tired of beautiful designs that don't actually work? We design for results. Most agencies hand you something shiny, cross their fingers, and hope it converts.
Your brand should feel like you everywhere: website, emails, social, the whole thing. Most agencies treat each platform like a separate project. Siloed teams, no communication, and suddenly your brand has an identity crisis across every channel.
A design that wins awards but doesn't move your sales? That's not a win. That's a missed opportunity. We build experiences people actually want to interact with. Most agencies design for the portfolio, not for your bottom line.
Your brand shouldn't need a complete rebuild every time you grow. We build flexible systems that evolve with you. Most agencies treat launch day like the finish line, leaving you scrambling to figure out expansion on your own.
We've been working with Sproutbox for a few years. They've always gone above and beyond to deliver the best work in a timely manner. We've worked with Noah, Jeff, Regina, and Kelsie and they've always crushed it on the delivery of the many projects they've done for us. They are professional, communicative, knowledgeable, and thoughtfully creative. We will continue to use Sproutbox in the future and would recommend them to anyone seeking Marketing needs.

How long does a brand project take?
A full brand identity typically takes 6–10 weeks. Simpler projects like a logo refresh or brand guidelines document can be done in 3–4 weeks. We set a clear timeline before we start and stick to it.
What does a brand package include?
It depends on scope, but most full brand projects include a logo system, color palette, typography, brand voice guidelines, and usage examples. We also do packaging, signage, and marketing templates as add-ons.
Do I own everything you design?
Yes. You own all final deliverables and source files. We do not charge licensing fees or retain any rights to the work.
Can you design our website too?
Yes. Our brand and web teams work closely together, which is why brand and website projects done through us tend to come out more cohesive than when they are handled by separate agencies.
Do you work with businesses that already have a brand?
Yes. Sometimes a full rebrand makes sense. Sometimes a refresh is all you need. We will give you an honest read after seeing what you have, and we will not oversell the scope.
What if we do not like the initial direction?
We present two or three distinct directions, not one take-it-or-leave-it concept. If none of them land, we brief you on why we went that direction and start again. We build in alignment checkpoints specifically to avoid late-stage surprises.
How many logo concepts do we get?
We present two to three logo directions in the initial round. From there, you pick a direction and we refine. Most projects reach a final logo in two to three rounds of revisions.
Do you design print and physical materials too?
Yes. Business cards, brochures, signage, packaging, trade show materials — anything that carries the brand. We design for both digital and physical applications from the start so nothing feels inconsistent in the real world.
Can you help with brand messaging and copywriting?
Yes. Visual identity and brand voice should come from the same place. We offer brand messaging as part of a full brand engagement — positioning statement, tagline, voice guidelines, and messaging framework.
What is the difference between a logo and a full brand identity?
A logo is a single mark. A brand identity is the complete system: logo, color palette, typography, graphic elements, photo style, and usage guidelines. A logo without a system gets applied inconsistently and loses impact fast.
